According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Senator Mitch McConnell did not encourage Anne Northup’s candidacy. Yet another case of Northup dishonesty.
Actually David, I can tell you that McConnell did not encourage Anne to run originally. That isn't to say he wasn't happy when she decided to run. That isn't also to say that she didn't seek his advice before she announced - she sought a lot of people's advice. But the senator did not provide the impetus - he actually advised her to do something very different - and she considered it. But after hearing from a lot of different people from across the state, she decided to run. If you are upset that she is running and want to blame someone, you might look at people like Bob Gable, who was much more instrumental in convincing her to run than the senator.
